In the Darkness, Light
In the darkness, Lord,
where we wail in the midnight
and flounder,
and struggle,
in that place where hope is rare
and death is certain,
you come to us
we the confused and lost,
we the burdened and grieving,
marked for death.
If we but open our eyes,
turn and look,
suddenly there is light,
showing us the way,
there is your touch,
healing our hearts.
O may we be open to that light,
choosing life
over wailing in the midnight,
open to your touch,
choosing your healing over death.
You who are our mercy,
bring us who hear your word
at last safely home.
Amen.
