Life Too Short for Words
Their small lives,
short,
too short for words
to begin to give them voice
for the shattering moment
which in fear and pain
they were overwhelmed
and pulled into the dark
before their time
by those they were formed to love
but who did not love them back,
a nuiscence to be removed,
a crisis to be resolved,
a bump in the life
to be cut away,
dissolved,
dismembered,
discarded.
No words to describe
the nightmare
except
tissue,
unwanted,
stem cell product,
abortion.

Prayer:
Into your hands Lord,
do we commend these little souls,
lost through man's inhumanity,
sacrificed on Molech's new altar,
sterile white.
O Blessed Mother,
Hold each of them in your loving hands,
and be the mother they will never have on earth.
Pray for us, little souls,
that we who have such hard hearts
may learn the reality of the evil done,
may be healed of the darkness that would take the life of an innocent,
and choose not the path that leads to death,
but to life eternal.
Amen.

Lord,
thank you for the moments
where the truth and love
you offer us
is a cup of sweet, cool water
to wash the taste
of the parched dust
of the desert of sin and sadness
out of the mouths of our spirit
that refreshs us with your own sweet self.

O my Jesus,
you are our healer,
healer of our hearts,
healer of our bodies
healer of our minds,
twisted and wounded with sin.
O Lord,
by your precious blood
shed drop by drop
in pain and misery,
you wrought the miracle
that frees us
into your hands of love.
You who know our true needs,
who suffered for us,
who suffers with us,
walking beside us,
help us to always keep close to you
Master, King, Beloved,
and as we go this life
touched by pain and grief and sorrow,
things which shake our faith,
things which bring us hurt,
remind us that you are there, always,
ready to hold our hands,
shelter us in your arms
each step of the way
until time for you to bring us home.
O the Way, the Truth, the Life
keep us ever in your way,
help us to feed always on your truth,
and become our life,
now and forever.
Amen.

Dear Lord,
in our moments of grief
and anger and outrage
when we see the evil that man does,
and feel the longing for retaliation,
bigger,
larger,
more deadly than the one before,
quickly plunge us back in memory
to that moment
when your mother first saw you
handing on the cross,
forgiving those who so cruelly used you,
bearing our sins,
all the hates of this day
and all days,
ready to put out the fires of those angers
with the liquid of your own blood.
Help us Lord,
when we long to act on our hurts
to be your peacemakers.
Help us Lord
to sow the seeds of understanding
when we long to strike out.
Help us Lord,
to find the way to forgiveness
when our deepest being
cries out for spilled blood.
Have mercy on us,
Save us,
heal us
by your spilled blood,
this day and always,
Amen.

O Lord,
this day I pray
for those who hear your word,
but turn away,
choosing a different path.
This day I pray
for those who know your word,
yet think it doesn't matter.
This day I pray
for those who know your word,
but find reasons to believe
you really meant
what they want you to mean.
Have mercy on us Lord,
You who are our Divine Mercy,
and soften our hearts and minds, O Lord,
until we truly hear
the word you are speaking,
the love you are sharing,
the truth you are showing
this day and always,
Amen.

Prayer for Mercy
Eternal Father,
I offer You the Body and Blood,
Soul and Divinity of Your dearly Beloved Son,
Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins
and those of the whole world.
For the sake of His Sorrowful Passion,
have mercy on us and the whole world.
Have mercy on us, Lord
for all those times we fail you,
doing evil and pretending it is good,
ignoring your call to care
and justifying it by political need,
or morality,
using your word
to justify our prejudices,
twisting your word
to justify our wants.
For the sake of His Sorrowful Passion,
have mercy on us and the whole world.
Have mercy on us, Lord
when we turn our backs to you
and pretend you don't see,
when hurt, we share our fist at you
as if you were the one who did the evil,
when angry, we justify our vengeance
in the name of protecting that we call holy.
For the sake of His Sorrowful Passion,
have mercy on us and the whole world.
Have mercy on us Lord,
for the anger in our hearts,
the longing to curse,
the determination to have our will in your name,
the determination to ignore you
even when you light burning bushes in front of our eyes.
For the sake of His Sorrowful Passion,
have mercy on us and the whole world.
Holy God,
Holy Mighty One
Holy Immortal One,
have mercy on us,
and on the whole world.

This day, O Lord,
May I keep in mind
the reality
of how much you love us,
even as the world
turns its back
and creates a chaos
of hate and pain and death
because they choose to ignore what you teach.
This day, O Lord,
may I keep in mind
the reality
of how much you love us,
even as I struggle
to be the salt and light
you ask me to be,
and forgive
when I want to hit,
and love
when I want to be angry,
and help
when I want to ignore,
for your glory,
by your power,
through your love,
this day and always,
Amen.
